  • 1 brown onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 long fresh red chilli
  • 400g pkt podded frozen edamame
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 500g beef mince
  • 450g pkt microwave brown rice
  • 2 teaspoons Gourmet Garden Ginger Paste
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) kecap manis
  • Fresh coriander sprigs, to serve


  • Step 1
    Heat a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Put the kettle on.
  • Step 2
    While the wok heats up and the kettle boils, cut the onion into large wedges, crush the garlic and slice the chilli.
  • Step 3
    Place the edamame in a heatproof bowl and add enough boiling water to cover.
  • Step 4
    Once the wok is hot, cook sesame seeds, tossing, for 1 minute or until toasted. Transfer to a plate. Add oil then beef to wok. Stir-fry, using a wooden spoon to break up any lumps, for 1 minute. Add onion and continue to stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden.

    Meanwhile, microwave the rice following packet directions.
  • Step 6
    Add the ginger paste and garlic to the wok. Toss until well combined. Add the kecap manis and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until sauce is thick and beef is well coated.
  • Step 7
    Drain edamame. Add to the wok and toss to combine. Divide rice and beef mixture among serving bowls. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, coriander and chilli to serve.
