  • 750ml (3 cups) sparkling apple juice
  • 2 x 7cm cinnamon sticks, broken in half (see note)
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 185ml (3/4 cup) MacQuarrie Pure Malt Scotch Whisky
  • 4 x 7cm cinnamon sticks (optional), extra, to decorate


  • Step 1
    Combine the sparkling apple juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves and sugar in a medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high. Bring to the boil. Cover. Set aside for 5 minutes to develop the flavours. Stir in whisky.
  • Step 2
    Strain the mixture into a heatproof jug. Discard the cinnamon and cloves. Divide the whisky cider among serving glasses. Add a cinnamon stick stirrer to each glass to decorate, if desired.
